Medicines: from the active ingredient to your hands
On September 30th, 1st Baccalaureate students had the opportunity to see how what was studied in the CMC subject (Sciences for the Contemporary World), specifically the topic of Pests of the XXI century , had its direct application in the field of research of new drugs.
Our guest, José Alfón (Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and PhD from the University of Barcelona), explained to the students the stages for the discovery of new drugs. They also discussed experimentation and animal testing during the research.
Dr. Alfón spoke about an experimental drug for the treatment of a type of cancer that is being developed by his laboratory.
We wish him success and hope that this new drug he is working on may soon save lives.
