We are pleased to welcome you to our high school with the new Educational Proposal for the IB Diploma Program

​The IB program is a rigorous and balanced educational program that addresses the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students, and is respected by prestigious universities around the world. The Ibn Gabirol Center, Colegio Estrella Toledano establishes with its students the development of learning approaches: thinking skills, research, social skills, self-management, as well as pedagogical principles on which the Diploma Program is based, based on the inquiry focused on conceptual understanding. It takes place in local and global contexts and focuses on effective teamwork and collaboration, and is guided by assessment (formative and summative). Thus, the center aims to train citizens through "education for a better world" that the IB put forward fully coincides with our own ideology as a Jewish educational center that promotes the training of young people involved in repairing the world under the mandate of Tikun Olam.

The goal of the International Baccalaureate is to train young people who are caring, informed and eager for knowledge, capable of contributing to creating a better and more peaceful world, within the framework of mutual understanding and intercultural respect.

The IB methodology responds to an analytical model of learning  in which the young  are  active participants in the educational process.

Our teaching team, specifically trained to teach the IB Program, are specialized in each area taught (economists, lawyers, chemists ...) as well as great applicators of new technologies and are benchmarks for their students. They will guide you through each step of the program. Community Profile

The profile of IB students does not differ too much from the student profile we have at Ibn Gabirol.
IB students work to be inquiring, informed and knowledgeable, thinkers, good communicators, of integrity, open-minded, caring, bold, balanced and thoughtful. These attributes represent a wide range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond intellectual development and academic success.

Through IB education, our center aims to train “citizens for a better world” that fully coincides with our own ideology as a Jewish educational center that promotes the formation of young people involved in the world under the mandate of “Tikun Olam”.

The Diploma Program is subject to constant review and improvement. The work of the teachers who teach it is also subject to rigorous quality controls.
The student will be immersed in a suitable study and work environment in which they will be accompanied by a close and cordial treatment from the teachers who will help them:

Professional and University Guidance

Our students prepare for the Diploma Program exams with specific models, standard exams and official models. We provide advice and guidance on the university future of the young, both nationally and internationally. We offer a program of activities "in Company" to facilitate the integration of students to the professional world.

Opting for the IB Diploma at our school allows our students to continue developing the academic and personal skills that our teachers  know in them. Allows them to continue their studies in a study setting  Jews and in seminaries  that promote the knowledge of contemporary Jewish life and allow them to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Jewish organizations and institutions locally and internationally, such as Tel Aviv University, Technion University,  Interdisciplinary Center (IDC Herzliya), WORLD ORT, among others.

Academic Integrity Policy

Academic integrity is a guiding principle in education and consists of making the determination, as an individual, to behave in a responsible manner that inspires the trust of others. Academic integrity is the foundation for ethical conduct and decision-making in the creation of honest, original, and legitimate scholarly work.

Evaluation Policy

The evaluation policy of the Ibn Gabirol center, Colegio Estrella Toledano aims to establish, for students who want to access the Diploma Program, some requirements that are in line with the philosophy. We want all students to be involved in learning, and we want the assessment policy to provide our students and their families with the necessary information on how students are acquiring the skills and knowledge of the diploma program.

Linguistic politic

Learning different languages is the main tool for oral and written communication. At the Ibn Gabirol School, we understand the development of communicative competence as the key to access the rest of learning. A correct use of the language itself allows us to interpret reality and organize thought, which is why it is constituted as a key and essential element in the development of students. For this reason, we understand that multilingual learning drives and makes possible the transversal development of the rest of the skills.

Ibn Gabirol Pre-IB

Our Pre IB Diploma Program is aimed at 4th ESO (10th.grade) students who wish to begin their IB Diploma studies in the following academic year.  It serves to prepare a solid foundation from which students can begin their IB Diploma Program with the assurance that they are prepared for future challenges.

Pre-IB Support

 

The PRE-IB Tutor Role is launched. A 12th. year student will help integration. A 'buddy system' in order to give the program greater visibility.


The IB Coordinator has responsibility for the Pre-IB program. He will supervise the selection of subjects, supervise the academic progress of 4th ESO and give support to the group.

Academic Actions:

·  Practice a research project in the second term of the course to prepare for the extended essay and the IB Internal Assessments

Sciences integrating Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

·  Understand the CAS Community Service.

·  Develop your thinking skills

critical in preparation for the Theory of Knowledge course.

·  Develop self-management skills.

·  Understand how to study each of the

subjects with the different methods that each subject requires.

Orientation Actions:

·  Decide on your tastes and strengths.

·  Choose the IB subjects with their respective levels (Intermediate and Higher Level)

·  Open the possibilities of studying anywhere in the world that you want to do with Focus in Spain, Israel and England.

·  Explore different universities in Spain and abroad, visiting campuses, university departments, fairs and open days.

Small groups, individualized treatment

The student receives individualized treatment adapted to their personal characteristics and academic circumstances. Personalized tutoring is one of the pillars on which our teaching methodology is based. A tutor teacher is in charge of guiding, guiding and controlling academic performance, coordinating relationships between teachers and students, conducting weekly tutorials in the classroom, stimulating integration and group interests, and maintaining direct contact with families.
